Dear Parents
Welcome back! We trust that you had a wonderful break and that you return to us with energy in excess – a prerequisite for a successful winter term!
Staff News
A very warm welcome to Mrs. Elizabeth Ncibe (Grade 4), Mrs. Abigail Masilela (Media Centre) and Mrs Tiny Kgapola(Grade 1). We hope that they will soon feel at home at Vukani Primary and that they will spend many happy years with us.
We also welcome Mrs. Tlaki Ncezu who is standing in for Mrs. Msiza this term.
Feedback from past events
Netball and Soccer Clinics
A good turnout of our pupils who participated in the Clinics. Our girls were put through their paces by the Soshanguve team which is made up of provincial or national players and coaches. Our boys also enjoyed learning from the soccer experts.
Both teachers and pupils were taught new techniques and match tactics which will certainly give Vukani netball and soccer teams the edge over our opposition this season.

Chess
Our very young and mostly inexperienced team played their first match of the season against Padisago. We had a very successful first round, but were unfortunately beaten by our opponents in the second round. Well done to all the boys and girls a special mention must be made of your exemplary manners and sportsmanship!

Albany plastic collection
A new term and a new competition! Please remember to send your Albany plastics to school on a Tuesday morning. We raised about a thousand rand for the school in the first term and I’d love to see us increase this amount this term. So let’s RECYCLE!!!
Our first plastic collection of the term saw Mrs Makofane’s class in the lead with 6000 Albany plastic bags. Well done Grade 2B, what a helpful recycling class you are!!! Mr Mashiane’s Grade 5 class was placed second and Mrs Masilela’s Grade 4 class third. Thank you to all those who have contributed to this week’s collection!

Upcoming events
Drug Awareness talk
Recently, the SP staff attended a drug awareness talk. It was excellent (and very frightening too) and as such we have organized a parent talk on this topic for Wednesday, 20 June. All parents are welcome to attend, but it has particular importance for parents of older children. The parent talk will run from 18:00 – 20:00 in the hall. Tea and coffee will be served after the talk.
Parents Evening
To ensure continued good communication channels, we have scheduled a Parents Evening for Wednesday, 06 June from 17:00 – 19:00.
We invite those parents, who wish to raise issues or air concerns, to meet with us during the allocated time. We request that your concern is jotted down (a few lines will do) and sent to school for the attention of Mrs.Motlhatlhego, by Friday, 1June. This will enable Mrs. Motlhatlhego to arrange for you to discuss the issue with the relevant staff and / or SGB members on the evening.
We really do have an open door policy and would love to have an opportunity to hear, and work through, any issue which may concern you.
Conclusion
A word of thanks from the staff
Thank you to our Parents for supporting the school fund raisers. A portion of the money has been used to insulate many classrooms and has also financed the installation of fans and air conditioners. These have made a real difference to us and to your children.
